Mermaid spirulina smoothie bowl

I could have this smoothie bowl on a early summer morning. In a house close to the beach with a view over the ocean. It is a little before sunrise and everything is covered in a wonderful light. It is still fresh but a great and sunny day is to come.

The smoothie bowl is refreshing, fueling and promising a wonderful day at the beach. It has the same color than the sea, such a gorgeous blue!

You see, I am dreaming me away. To another season and another place. This smoothie bowl makes me dream, because it reminds me of the sea, not only because of its color but also because of its taste which is so smooth and refreshing.

This is my mermaid smoothie bowl and I am sure, every mermaid would enjoy it!







When a smoothie has such a lovely color, spirulina is definitely involved!

That's another reason why I call it mermaid bowl, because spirulina is a blue-green alga, that grows naturally in oceans and salty lakes in subtropical climates.

Spirulina is praised for it's various health benefits. Many nutritionists recommend it as a treatment for a range of metabolism and heart health issues, including weight loss, diabetes and high cholesterol. It can also be an aid for various mental and emotional disorders like stress or depression.

There is not enough scientific evidence for those health benefits, but it is sure that it is rich in nutritions. It contains lots of calcium, magnesium, vitamin B, iron and protein.

So this micro alga is a very powerful superfood and a good addition to your daily diet. Try to include it into your meals and make yourself some yummy smoothies with it, such as this mermaid smoothie bowl!


Mermaid spirulina smoothie bowl

(makes one smoothie bowl)




1 banana (frozen)

1 apple

1/2 pear

1 kiwi

3 tbsp soy yogurt

juice of 1/2 a lemon

3 spirulina tablets




1. Add all ingredients to a high speed blender and process until you get a creamy smoothie texture.

2. top with your favorite fruits and berries and enjoy!
