Summer berry smoothie

 

Berry season is my favorite season!

Every year again I can't wait to finally find the first berries in the garden. I love all of them, currants, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, cherries, gooseberries ... there are so many and every one has its own special taste. As well, berries are full of antioxidants which are great for your health, help to prevent certain diseases and make your skin and hair shine.

Having the chance to pick your own berries is wonderful. Unfortunately there are no berries growing in our garden, but we can always go to our neighbors garden and pick some of theirs. Also my grandparents have wonderful berries, especially the currants are so delicious and big, because my grandfather pays them special attention. Getting berries is always a good reason to visit!

 

Of course I am making smoothies with all those wonderful berries!

Sometimes I am only adding one type of berries like for example a simple raspberry banana smoothie (so good!) but why not combining all of them? The berries give your smoothie a wonderful color, make it super healthy and nourishing and most important it is so delicious!

I made this mixed berry smoothie using black and red currants, blueberries, raspberries and some cherries. There is also banana, apple, lemon, some coconut milk (which you can substitute by any other plant milk if you like) and chia seeds in this smoothie!

I topped it with more berries and hemp seeds! Very delicious on a sunny summer day, refreshing and nourishing!

 

Summer berry smoothie

(one serving)

 

Ingredients:

- 1 banana

- 1 apple

- 1 cup mixed berries

- juice of 1/2 a lemon

- 1 tsp chia seeds

- 1/3 coconut milk

 

Procedure:

 

1. Blend all the ingredients for the smoothie.

2. Pour in a glass or bowl and enjoy!
